Vilandai Government High School : ウィキペディア英語版 | Vilandai Government High School
Vilandai Government High School teaches students from 6th standard till 12th standard. The students are instructed in Tamil language as a standard medium of communication. As of 2014, there are approximately 350 students. Contrary to the norm, about 60% of the students are girls. The school provides basic lunch for its students, though most kids bring supplemental food. The local population prefers to send the kids to nearby private English schools. The government school is attended mostly by children whose families are daily wage earners who may not be able afford the tuition. The school and its students receive aid from Girja Trust in the form of donations of books, notebooks, geometry boxes, and stipend for the first two ranking students in 10th and 12th standards. This year, the school got a loud speaker for its use in the general assembly. A teacher, Reena Ayyappan who teaches at a local private school conducts free tuition for students from the public school. This effort is supported by Sandhya Gurukulam (A project of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam). ==References==
